Why Organic?

Why Organic?

We at Qi Teas are proud to be organic. But why organic?

Organic farming is a way of growing and paying close attention to nature. Few chemicals on the land such as any artificial fertilisers, which can pollute waterways, effect wildlife etc. In short, organic food is kinder to the environment. As 2018 means we are more conscious of our buying choices, and what we put into our bodies, environmentally ethical teas are they way forward!

Organic food always comes from trusted sources. All organic farms and food companies are inspected at least once a year and the standards for organic food are laid down in European law.

This makes sure that we at Qi Teas standards are always kept high and in line with the EU stipulations.

Organic – a definition

The Department for Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) states that:

‘Organic food is the product of a farming system which avoids the use of man-made fertilisers, pesticides; growth regulators and livestock feed additives. Irradiation and the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or products produced from or by GMOs are generally prohibited by organic legislation.

Organic agriculture is a systems approach to production that is working towards environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production. Instead, the agricultural systems rely on crop rotation, animal and plant manures, some hand weeding and biological pest control’.

Ok so….how have Qi Teas been able to label their products as organic?!

This is simple, a producer needs 95% of all ingredients to be organically grown in order to be labelled as organic – 100% of the ingredients in Qi’s organic teas have been organically produced, even our flavours are encapsulated organic essential oils which is why we are approved by the Soil Association.

Being organic gives us a warm feeling in our tummies, add that to our delicious teas and we promise to make you toasty warm.
