Matcha Overnight Oats (Vegan)
We just love the convenience of overnight oats… plus they are delicious. One specific member of the Qi Tea team, Frances, is really not a breakfast fan…so we set her to the test! She has come up with this hearty breakfast recipe, and it is truly yummy!
Matcha Powder Overnight Oats
Preparation time - 10 mins (if that)
95g rolled oats
1.5 teaspoon chia seeds
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
400ml almond, soya, hazelnut, rice or oat milk (Frances used Oatly Barista, you could use normal milk for non vegan)
OPTIONAL 1 teaspoon runny honey (non vegan) or agar syrup.
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1.5 apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1 handful nuts (we like cashews but you could use any that you like)
Place the oats and chia seeds in a bowl or Kilner jar or equivalent.
In a separate bowl add a splash of ‘milk’ (whichever you chose) and add the matcha powder to make a paste. Then add the rest of the milk, mix thoroughly.
Pour the matcha milk mixture over the oats, then stir in the cinnamon (and honey).
Cover and refrigerate overnight (9 hours ideally)
When ready to eat, transfer the oats into bowls and top with chopped apple, pumpkin seeds and nuts.
